Self storage in Dubai starts at AED 99 per month for a 10 sq ft climate-controlled unit at Easy Storage in Al Quoz, excluding VAT. That is the lowest advertised starting price for a private unit we could find in November 2026. Most other storage companies in Dubai advertise from AED 149 to AED 350 for their smallest storage units, and a 50 sq ft unit typically costs AED 400 to AED 650. The headline number is only part of the story, so this guide compares starting prices, explains what is usually left out of them, and shows how to bring your monthly bill down.
Dubai self storage starting prices compared (November 2026)
The table lists the lowest monthly price each provider or listing site advertises for a private storage unit. Figures for other companies come from their public pages or from third-party guides, checked on 7 November 2026, and can change at any time. Always confirm the current rate, the unit size it applies to and whether VAT is included before you book.
| Provider or source | Advertised starting price | What it covers | Where the figure comes from |
|---|---|---|---|
| Easy Storage (Al Quoz, Dubai and Sharjah) | AED 99 per month | 10 sq ft climate-controlled unit, excl. VAT, insurance included | Easy Storage self storage page |
| ServiceMarket listings (several companies) | from AED 149 per month | Varies by company | ServiceMarket Dubai storage listings |
| Prime City Storage | from AED 150 per month | Smallest unit | Provider website |
| Boxit | about AED 150 per unit; by-the-box from AED 39 per box | By-the-box storage is a different service, with pickup charged separately | Provider blog and company profiles |
| Ruby Self Storage (Sharjah) | from AED 150 per month | 10 sq ft locker | Third-party guide |
| The Box | AED 200 to AED 350 per month | Smallest locker, as reported by third parties | Real Estate Club Dubai, mover blogs |
| Selfstore | about AED 300 per month | Smallest unit | Third-party guide |
Two things stand out. First, the gap between the lowest and highest starting price is more than three times, for units of roughly similar size. Second, almost nobody says what the starting price includes. VAT, insurance, the deposit and the minimum term change the real cost by far more than the difference between AED 99 and AED 149.
What “from AED” usually leaves out
A monthly rate in Dubai is rarely the amount you pay. Check these five items on any quote.
VAT. Storage is a taxable service in the UAE, so 5% VAT is added to the monthly rate unless the price says it is inclusive. Easy Storage quotes AED 99 excluding VAT, which is AED 103.95 all in.
Insurance. Some facilities charge insurance on top, often as a percentage of the declared value. Others include basic cover in the rent. At Easy Storage insurance is included in the storage price, with the insured amount based on the space you take and written into the contract.
Deposit. A refundable deposit of one month’s rent is common across Dubai and is the case at Easy Storage. It is not a cost, but it is cash you pay on day one.
Minimum term and notice. Many “cheap” rates assume a minimum stay. Easy Storage’s minimum is 3 months with 30 days’ notice to end the contract. A facility with no minimum term may charge a higher monthly rate to compensate.
Pickup and delivery. Collection from your home is almost always extra. Easy Storage charges pickup and delivery across the UAE from AED 99, with the final cost depending on location and what needs moving. If you can drop items off yourself, you avoid this entirely.

What actually sets the price
Unit size. Price scales roughly with floor area. The usual Dubai ranges, drawn from ServiceMarket, Real Estate Club Dubai and provider pages, are:
| Unit size | Typical monthly range in Dubai | Fits roughly |
|---|---|---|
| 10 to 25 sq ft | AED 99 to AED 300 | Boxes, suitcases, documents, seasonal items |
| 50 sq ft | AED 400 to AED 650 | A studio apartment’s contents |
| 75 to 100 sq ft | AED 650 to AED 2,000 | A one or two bedroom apartment |
| 120 to 160 sq ft | AED 1,200 to AED 3,000 | A three bedroom home or small office |
Climate control. Air conditioned storage in Dubai, meaning climate-controlled units with managed humidity, is typically quoted 20 to 30% above standard units elsewhere in the city. Easy Storage’s AED 99 entry price is already for a climate-controlled unit, with standard units available for items that do not mind heat.
Location. Self storage in Al Quoz is the cheapest in Dubai per square foot: the area has the most storage facilities in Dubai and the lowest rates, according to Real Estate Club Dubai’s 2026 comparison. Facilities in Business Bay, JLT or Al Barsha charge more for the convenience. If you search “storage units near me” from Downtown, Marina or Jumeirah, Al Quoz is 10 to 20 minutes away by car, which is why most of the city’s storage sits there.
Contract length. Longer terms earn discounts almost everywhere. Easy Storage gives 10% on a 3-month term, 15% on 6 months and 20% on 12 months.
Access. 24-hour access is sometimes a paid upgrade. At Easy Storage 24/7 self storage access is included, and you keep your own lock and key.
Cheapest storage in Sharjah vs Dubai: is it worth the drive?
Usually, yes. Mover and listing blogs put storage space in Sharjah at AED 260 to AED 400 a month for a 50 sq ft unit, against AED 450 to AED 650 in Dubai, though those figures are not independently verified. Easy Storage runs a self storage facility in Industrial Area 7, Sharjah on the same price ladder as Al Quoz, so the cheapest storage in Sharjah and the cheapest in Dubai cost the same with us, and so for anyone living in Sharjah, Ajman or the northern parts of Dubai the saving is mainly the shorter drive. We cover the trade-offs in a separate guide to storage in Sharjah versus Dubai.

Nine ways to pay less for storage in Dubai
- Measure before you book. Most people rent one size too big. List what you are storing, whether that is personal storage for a few boxes or the contents of an apartment, and ask the facility to recommend a size, or read our guide to storage unit sizes in Dubai. Paying for 50 sq ft when 25 would do costs AED 200 or more a month.
- Declutter first. Selling or donating two pieces of furniture can drop you a unit size. Dar Al Ber Society collects donated furniture in Dubai and Sharjah free of charge.
- Match the term to your plan. Short term storage in Dubai for a renovation or a summer away fits the 3-month minimum. If you need long term self storage, take the six or twelve month discount rather than paying monthly and extending.
- Choose Al Quoz. The drive is short and the rent is lower than at central facilities.
- Use climate control where it matters. Wooden furniture, leather, electronics and documents need it in a Dubai summer. Tools, metal shelving and plastic storage boxes do not. Splitting your items between a climate-controlled unit and a standard one can cut the bill.
- Pack upwards. Shelving units and stacked, labelled boxes use the height of the unit, so you can take a smaller footprint.
- Deliver it yourself. Pickup from AED 99 is convenient, but a car and a friend cost nothing.
- Check the all-in price. Compare rate plus VAT plus insurance plus admin fees, not the headline figure. A quote of AED 149 with insurance extra can cost more than AED 99 with insurance included.
- Combine moving and storage. If you are between homes, one company moving you out, storing your things and moving you in avoids paying two sets of transport. Easy Storage runs its own moving services in Dubai for this.
