Cheapest Storage in Sharjah vs Dubai: Prices, Access Hours and Whether the Drive Pays (2026)

Empty desert highway under a clear sky, illustrating the drive between Dubai and Sharjah storage facilities

Storage in Sharjah is usually cheaper than storage in Dubai for the same unit size, by roughly a third according to the guides that quote figures, but the gap closes fast once you add Salik, the drive and the access hours many Sharjah warehouses keep. The only named, advertised self storage price we found in Sharjah in November 2026 is from AED 150 a month. Easy Storage’s facility in Sharjah Industrial Area 7 runs on the same price ladder as our Al Quoz units: climate-controlled from AED 99 a month for 10 sq ft, excluding VAT. This guide compares the two emirates line by line so you can decide whether crossing the border is worth it.

Storage in Sharjah vs Dubai: the numbers

The Sharjah and Dubai columns below come from mover and listing guides checked on 8 November 2026 and are estimates, not operator price lists; no Sharjah guide we found names the facilities behind its figures. The Easy Storage column is our published pricing, which is the same in both emirates.

Unit size Sharjah, typical monthly Dubai, typical monthly Easy Storage, Al Quoz or Sharjah
10 sq ft locker AED 65 to 150 (named operator: from AED 150) AED 99 to 300 From AED 99, climate-controlled
25 sq ft AED 160 to 220 AED 200 to 350 Quoted by space
50 sq ft (studio contents) AED 260 to 400 AED 400 to 650 Quoted by space
100 sq ft (1 to 2 bedrooms) AED 500 to 700 AED 800 to 2,000 Quoted by space
200 sq ft (3 bedrooms) AED 950 to 1,300 AED 1,200 to 3,000 Quoted by space

Three things the table hides. Most of the cheap Sharjah warehouse space is not climate-controlled, and adding it costs 20 to 30% more where it exists. Many Sharjah warehouses close in the evening and on weekends. And none of the guides include VAT, deposit or insurance, which we cover in the storage unit rental cost breakdown.

Where storage space in Sharjah actually is

Self storage in Sharjah clusters in the industrial areas, and the area decides the drive more than the price does. Drive times are typical off-peak estimates from Deira or Al Nahda on the Dubai side; at rush hour on Al Ittihad Road, double them.

Area What is there From Dubai (off-peak) Watch for
Al Nahda and Al Qusais border Newer facilities, some 24/7 and climate-controlled 15 to 25 minutes Prices close to Dubai levels
Sharjah Industrial Areas 1 to 7 Warehouse-style storage, caged units, loading bays; Easy Storage is in Industrial Area 7 25 to 40 minutes Check access hours; many warehouses keep office hours
Muweilah and University City Smaller warehouses near the universities 40 to 60 minutes Midday Friday closures are common
SAIF Zone Larger industrial units 40 to 60 minutes Often 200 sq ft minimum, 6-month contracts and a trade licence to book direct

Self storage Sharjah: access hours and climate control

This is where the Sharjah discount is earned. Guides put typical Sharjah hours at 6 am to 10 pm in Industrial Area 2, 7 am to 11 pm in Al Qusais Industrial, 8 am to 10 pm in Muweilah, and office hours at many older warehouses, with 24/7 limited to a few newer sites. If you need to collect a suitcase at 11 pm before a flight, a cheap unit you cannot open is not cheap.

Climate control is the second check. Sharjah summers are as humid as Dubai’s, and one mover reports leather sofas growing mould after four months in a non-climate-controlled Sharjah unit. Boxed kitchenware and tools are fine in a standard unit. Wooden furniture, leather, electronics, documents and clothes are not. Easy Storage’s Sharjah facility offers the same climate-controlled and standard options as Al Quoz, with climate-controlled starting at AED 99 for 10 sq ft.

The Salik and time maths

Sharjah has no tolls. Driving in from Dubai does. Al Ittihad Road (E11) carries two Salik gates at Al Mamzar, each AED 4 off-peak or AED 6 at peak before VAT, so a return trip can cost AED 16 to 25. Emirates Road (E311) and E611 are toll-free but longer. From Al Quoz, Al Khail Road to E311 avoids most gates.

Work it as a monthly figure. If you visit a Sharjah unit twice a month via E11 at peak, that is about AED 50 in Salik plus two to four hours of driving. On a 50 sq ft unit saved at AED 200 a month, Sharjah still wins. On a 10 sq ft locker where the saving is AED 50 or nothing, it does not. The same logic runs the other way for Sharjah residents: a Sharjah facility saves the tolls and the hour, which is why Easy Storage opened one.

Business storage in Sharjah: the licence question

For stock, archives and equipment, the emirate matters more than for household goods. A Dubai broker’s note is worth repeating: Dubai mainland licensing is the more flexible of the two, Sharjah industrial space generally requires a Sharjah trade licence to lease directly, and Dubai rates run 10 to 20% above comparable Sharjah stock. Managed business storage sidesteps the licence question in both emirates because you rent space inside the operator’s facility rather than leasing a warehouse. Our business storage in Dubai and Sharjah works that way, from 10 sq ft with no lease.

When Sharjah wins and when Dubai wins

Sharjah wins when you live or trade in Sharjah, Ajman or Al Nahda; when the unit is 50 sq ft or larger and mostly static; when you visit less than twice a month; and when the facility’s hours fit yours.

Dubai wins when you live south of Deira; when you need late or weekend access; when the items need climate control and the Sharjah option does not offer it; and when the unit is small enough that the saving disappears into Salik.

Either wins when the operator charges the same in both, which is Easy Storage’s case: pick the facility closest to you and pay the Al Quoz rate. For a comparison of advertised Dubai rates across providers, see our guide to self storage prices in Dubai.

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest storage in Sharjah?

Unnamed guide estimates start at AED 65 to 90 a month for a 10 sq ft locker in older, non-climate-controlled warehouses. The only named, advertised Sharjah price we found is from AED 150. Easy Storage Sharjah starts at AED 99 for a climate-controlled 10 sq ft unit, excluding VAT.

Is there self storage in Sharjah Industrial Area?

Yes. The industrial areas hold most of Sharjah’s storage warehouses. Easy Storage’s Sharjah facility is in Industrial Area 7.

Can a Dubai resident rent storage space in Sharjah?

Yes, for personal storage there is no residency condition at managed facilities. Leasing an industrial warehouse directly is different and usually needs a Sharjah trade licence.

Is storage in Sharjah climate-controlled?

Often not, especially at older warehouses, which is part of why it is cheaper. Ask specifically; “ventilated” is not climate-controlled. Easy Storage Sharjah offers both.

How much does Salik add to a Sharjah storage visit?

AED 8 to 12.60 each way via Al Ittihad Road’s two gates depending on time of day, or nothing via E311 and E611. Two visits a month at peak is about AED 50.

Is storage cheaper in Sharjah than Dubai for a whole apartment?

Usually, by about a third on the unit price for 100 to 200 sq ft, before access, climate control and tolls. Run the full cost sheet before deciding.
